Fraser M. Martin
Contributing Editor
CAR Middle East
UAE

My mother knew I’d be trouble when I started to recognize different cars at an early age: though we did not then have a family car, I could identify a Citroen and a Volkswagen by 20 months. Whilst most other things were either just cars or vans or buses, the die was cast and by the age of eight, I had filled all the tick boxes in the ‘I-Spy Book of Cars’, including the Lagonda Rapide, of which only 62 were ever made.

Petrol station jobs whilst at school, and part time sales appointments in the motor trade whilst I studied Graphics, set me up for what I do now. I’ve run Advertising Agencies, built and managed a commercial Printing Press and been in the region for 30 years, but now concentrate on ‘motor’ stuff. I organize off road events, vehicle launch programmes and industry training, am currently Race Director for the UAE National Race Championships, as well as a Senior Instructor in the Race School at the Dubai Autodrome, host an occasional motoring podcast and hold bike, car and HGV licenses. I have been contributing to CAR Middle East since issue one, and have worked on many other publications.

On average, I drive about 100,000 kilometers a year. Current vehicles actually owned are an 8-year old Honda Jazz, because it is economical, cavernous, corners on the door handles and still works fine, a Jeep Wrangler 4-door, because I need something for off-road work and to pull a trailer, and a classic old Mercedes Benz that will soon becoming a runner.

Ghaith Madadha
Motoring Correspondent
The Jordan Times
Jordon

Recognized as Jordan’s first specialized English-language ‘Jo Magazine’ and Jordan Times automotive writer, Ghaith Madadha was a jack-of-many-trades. A one-time bouncer, civil servant and columnist, Ghaith immersed himself in his childhood love for automotive media and cars during a self-imposed exile in Luton, ostensibly to complete his MA thesis.

Returning to Jordan with a plan to become a motoring writer, Ghaith entered journalism through The Jordan Times, but soon moved to magazines in 2002 to become an auto writer. After establishing himself as Motoring Editor at the then nascent Living Well and Jordan Business magazines, Ghaith was also a contributing editor for Jordan’s first car magazines, ‘Jordan Auto News’ and a columnist for UAE’s ‘Wheels’ magazine. However it was as Jo magazine’s Motoring Editor where Ghaith built his auto journalism career since 2005.

By 2006, Ghaith also acquired motoring duties at Jordan’s widest circulating English publication, The Jordan Times, and has since taken the mantle of resident car czar at Venture business intelligence and U Men lifestyle magazines since 2008 and 2009 respectively. Inextricably linked to the UK after a 12-year stint in London, Ghaith has, since 2008, also been an accredited automotive journalist with the UK-based Guild of Motoring Writers.
